I've always loved craft beer - not just for the taste, but for the creativity and artwork that goes into each can. It always felt like a shame to throw away these little pieces of art, and photos never quite did them justice.
That's why I started canny.beer: a website for craft beer lovers to collect, review, and share their favorite cans. Users can sign up with Google, leave reviews, and see their collection rendered in 3D - complete with the can's unique label.

One of the most exciting (and challenging) parts of the project has been figuring out how to display each can's artwork on a 3D model. I'm experimenting with ways to "unwrap" photos of cans into flat images that can be wrapped around a virtual can, including using AI to help automate the process.
The project is still a work in progress, but it's already a fun way to keep track of the beers I've tried and the cans I've collected. If you're a fan of craft beer or just love cool side projects, check it out at canny.beer!
